I was glad to get the first round of the British under 21s motocross championship out of the way – I can settle in now to the championship knowing what I’m up against. Round one at Little Silver motopark in Exeter is not the best venue, it is a narrow flat out circuit with not much technical difficulty, I managed 11th overall on the day, unfortunately, not getting the best starts left me fighting for a 11th position in both motos.

Hawkstone International: Brilliant event – good pre-season warm up for the GP boys. Qualified 28th but had a few technical problems with bike, it wasn’t pulling me up the steep Hawkstone Hill. Really enjoyed Hawkstone - got a call up to the British Rider Shootout (knockout heats of 4 riders on a three quarter lap dash) was up against Jake Nicholls, Neville Bradshaw & Graeme Irwin, I just blasted the lap and finished 2nd, although pretty hairy with my legs off all over the place! Next heat up against Shaun Simpson, Scot Elderfield & Irwin – got third in this heat so didn’t get to the final. But good fun and a real crowd pleaser!

Round 1 British Maxxis Championship at Canada Heights. I qualified in 18th position; the track was very soft and heavily rutted just after qualifying! I got caught up in both races in first lap crashes, so started from way down field but pulled through to score an 18th and 14th for 16th overall, which I was pleased with in the very tough conditions!

15 March: Ballaugh, Isle of Man – 2 hour Enduro – Thanks to Swifty who lent me a bike to compete in this event which I won overall. Got a great start and pulled away from the rest of the field.

45 minutes from end one of the footrests broke – it was a challenge to finish the event – I was off all over the place so had to back off the pace a bit, but a good finish overall.
