British Youth Champion 2007
14 June - I headed to Culham in Oxford for the British Masters of Motocross series…. I qualified in 9th place and was looking forward to the racing. I made a great start in race one getting the holeshot but went down heavily on the 3rd lap and was hit hard from behind by the following rider… leaving me dazed and a trip to the ambulance to be checked out. Thought I would try race two but had to pull out as I was feeling pretty rough (vision problems and sickness) from my first race crash so overall a disastrous weekend.

I turned my thoughts to the following weekend with the hope of some good racing and results at Desertmartin in Northern Ireland at the British Maxxis Championship but I had big problems with my back during the week and had to find a physio and get treatment on my way to Northern Ireland, this really helped and I thought I would give the racing my best shot. As usual the whole set up at Desertmartin was brilliant, the red sandy circuit was in great condition. I qualified well again in 15th despite the torrential rain that had started during Saturday night and never stopped all of Sunday. I knew the racing wasn’t going to be easy as conditions worsened but during the first race my bike stopped and there was no way I could get it going…it turned out that the piston had cracked which is pretty major. I had a brand new bike with me but with my back problems during the week I hadn’t been able to set it up (the suspension etc) but thought I would ride it in race two, but with the track now treacherous to ride and the lack of bike preparation I decided disappointingly to pull out of race two rather than risk further injury. I headed back to the UK for the British Four Stroke Championship at Hawkstone Park on 29 June. The weather/track/conditions were good. I love this circuit. I qualified in 10th, and with a reasonable start in race one finished 10th a bad start in moto 2 left me with a lot to do but pulled through to finish 12th and 10th place overall at the end of the weekend. I can’t afford to have bad starts because I use all my energy fighting through the field.

This last weekend was the British Masters series at Pontrillas in South Wales but again the weather was horrendous the track was really muddy; lots of riders made the decision not to ride and left the circuit… a decision I also took it wasn’t worth taking the chance of wrecking a new bike and risking personal injury.
